“LOVE COME THRU” AND "FEELGOOD"

The Burning Bridges EP was created out of pure necessity, given the peculiarities of this moment; racial tension, global pandemic and the resulting emotional rollercoasters. It was a 3-song EP because those were the only songs David had ready, and their timeliness necessitated an immediate release. He reflects on each song below.

“The song “Burning Bridges” sums up the anxiety that is now so much a part our daily life in the United States. As a creative person and as a citizen, there’s been no more tumultuous time than this one in my adult lifetime. I wanted to write a song spoke to that urgency, but still attempting to frame those tensions as a mirror. We created this scenario, hence only we can stop it. We keep being asked to choose enemies. Is there another choice?”

“Resist" is the sister of “Burning Bridges and is more about a sense of resolve. In the midst of this craziness, we need to get our minds right, fend off negativity and figure out an action plan. Maybe we can dance while we're doing it. Hanifah Walidah came in and laced up her verse, which prompted me to bring my A game and not get shown up on my own song.”

"Millimeters" is more contemplative, and and deals with the aftermath of an illness that was nearly life – threatening. It attempts to diagram that limbo between this world and the next, when it seems our time is running out.”

The "Burning Bridges" EP is available for purchase at Bandcamp and is streaming on Apple Music and Spotify.
